Domain Tennis Centre Privacy Declaration
The Domain Tennis Centre (the Centre), incorporated in Tasmania under the Associations Incorporation Act 1964 (Tas), is committed to protecting the privacy of its members, staff, volunteers, contractors, and stakeholders.
While not required by law as a small organisation, the Centre voluntarily opts into and complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) when handling personal information. This commitment reflects our dedication to accountability, transparency, and the secure handling of personal information.
PURPOSE OF THIS DECLARATION
This Privacy Declaration outlines how the Centre collects, stores, uses, and discloses personal
information, and the steps we take to ensure compliance with the Privacy Act and to
safeguard individual privacy rights.
COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Centre will only collect personal information where:
• The information is collected for a lawful purpose that is directly related to one or
more of the Centre’s functions or activities; and
• The collection of information is reasonably necessary for that purpose.
We will:
• Collect personal information directly from the individual where reasonable and
practicable;
• Inform individuals about the purpose of collection, how their information will be
used, and their rights relating to access and correction;
• Take reasonable steps to ensure individuals are aware of:
o That their personal information is being collected;
o The purposes of the collection;
o The intended recipients;
o Whether the supply of information is required by law or voluntary;
o Any consequences of not providing the information;
o The existence of rights to access and correct personal information; and
o The name and contact details of the Centre responsible for collecting and storing the information.
USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Centre will not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for
which it was collected unless:
• The individual has provided consent;
• The other purpose is directly related to the primary purpose and would reasonably be expected; or
• The use or disclosure is required or authorised by law, or is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to the life, health, or safety of an individual.
We will never disclose sensitive personal information, including details relating to an individual’s:
• Racial or ethnic origin;
• Political opinions or affiliations;
• Religious or philosophical beliefs;
• Union membership;
• Health, disability, or sexual activity/preferences, except with explicit consent or as required by law.
DATA QUALITY AND SECURITY
We will take all reasonable steps to:
• Ensure that personal information collected is accurate, complete, and up to date;
• Protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification,
or disclosure;
• Destroy or de-identify information when it is no longer required for the Centre’s purposes.
ACCESS AND CORRECTION
Individuals have the right to request:
• Confirmation as to whether the Centre holds personal information about them;
• Access to their personal information;
• Corrections or updates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Where a request for amendment is made but not agreed to, the Centre will attach a statement of the individual’s request to the information so that it is read together.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND CONTACT
The Centre’s General Manager is responsible for overseeing privacy compliance. All staff, Board, contractors, and volunteers are required to adhere to this Privacy Declaration and report any privacy concerns.

UPDATES TO THIS DECLARATION
This Privacy Declaration is reviewed periodically to remain compliant with legislation and
best practice. The latest version will always be available on the Centre’s website or upon
request.
