Welcome to the dt hub

We’re excited to share our vision for the future of the DTC. This project is about investing in community participation, supporting sport pathways, and ensuring the DTC remains a vibrant, sustainable asset for generations to come.

    Our Vision

The Domain Tennis Centre is Tasmania’s premier tennis venue and a significant community asset. Looking ahead, our vision is to position the DTC as both a premier event venue and a thriving community facility,  financially sustainable, largely self-sufficient, and built around the needs of players, members, and the broader Hobart community.
Through disciplined planning and genuine stakeholder engagement, we’re developing a staged masterplan that balances operational efficiency, lifecycle costs, and long-term revenue generation

      Why This Project, Why Now?

The DTC has evolved incrementally over many years and currently relies on a mix of permanent and temporary infrastructure. This has led to escalating costs, operational inefficiencies, and constraints on both day-to-day operations and major event delivery.
In April 2025, the DTC secured $8.4 million in grant funding – $8.0 million from the Australian Government and $0.4 million from Active Tasmania, providing a critical catalyst to progress priority works and integrate them into a broader, long-term masterplan.

        Stage 1:

Stage 1 Priority Works are being planned in parallel with the masterplan and are scheduled for delivery by December 2027. The scope includes:

Site Access & Circulation | Upgrades to improve movement and safety across the site.

Courts & Grounds | Court levelling, drainage, lighting and fencing upgrades.

Pickleball & Padel | New facilities funded by Active Tasmania.

Centre Court | Targeted upgrades to improve event readiness.

Clubhouse | Upgrades to improve amentity and operations.

        Project Phases

The masterplan is being developed through a structured, governance-led process across five phases:

Phase 0 | Delivery Strategy:  governance, planning methodology, and project setup.

Phase 1 | Strategic Direction:  confirming the long-term vision and objectives.

Phase 2 | Functional Description: defining what the site must do and how it must operate.

Phase 3 | Site Layout Options: testing and assessing different site layout approaches.

Phase 4 | Masterplan & Staging: developing thje preferred layout into a staged, investable masterplan.

        FAQs

What is the DT Hub? The DT Hub is the working title for the Domain Tennis Centre Masterplan project, your go-to place for updates, information, and ways to have your say.
Why is this happening now? A combination of ageing infrastructure, growing participation demand, major event readiness needs, and the successful securing of $8.4 million in grant funding has made this the right moment to plan and deliver meaningful, long-term improvements.
Who is involved? The project is a collaboration between Tennis Australia, Tennis Tasmania, the City of Hobart (as auspice and landowner), and the Domain Tennis Centre. A Project Reference Group (PRG) provides governance oversight, while a Project User Group (PUG) ensures stakeholder and community voices are heard throughout the process.
How is the funding being used? The $8.4 million package funds the Stage 1 Priority Works; including court and grounds upgrades, new pickleball and padel facilities, site access improvements, and targeted Centre Court and Clubhouse upgrades. We are committed to the transparent and accountable use of all public funding.
How will this affect me as a member or player? We know that works can cause disruption, and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way. Monthly updates, milestone announcements, and on-site signage will be used to communicate any access changes or disruptions as early as possible.
When will construction start? The masterplan and detailed planning for Stage 1 works are currently underway. Construction timelines will be confirmed once planning is complete and endorsed by the Project Reference Group. Stage 1 works are targeted for delivery by December 2027.
